We live now. There is no later. All you have, all I have is the present moment in which to give our lives.
Each morning you and I wake up to a new dawn. We may carry our dreams with us into the light of day. We try to recall the experiences of the night, already past us. We may have images flash in of what we have to do this new day of our life. We may have images of ourselves that make us feel positive and life-reinforcing, or we may feel nervous and depressing images that are already tearing us down, meaning we have to fight our way into the day.
Ah, the eternal fight to wake each morning and have something important to do with our day.
We exist. We are alive. Yet what we do with our day seems all-important. It is the only day we have. It is the only life we have.
And do we leave a trail of purpose? Do we leave our tracks along the way?
While it means that we cannot live our lives any other time but today, it also means that we can make something of our day, or get lazy and have nothing to show for it.
We each have that choice.
Sure, the daily routine keeps us going. The children’s mouths to feed. Waking up the partner. Getting dressed right to go off to work. Make the coffee. Get on the phone early to make that rendezvous to talk with Dear Friend at lunch, or get some important business decision made.
Life and its details.
Wanting a little quick sex with partner or just oneself to feel better.
The Pleasure Principle may give us a quick, feel-good high, but will not sustain us throughout our day like a strong commitment to a strong purpose would.
For that strong purpose that over-rides the moment, you need to assess all your abilities and resources available, focus and build.
Don’t get lost in the Now Philosophy!
While it seems true that it all happens now in each current moment that you are alive and making choices, in fact in this life you need greater purpose to over-ride the moment itself.
Thus we say, Purpose. Live a Greater Purpose through each day. Pay a bit forward while you also acknowledge receipt of the past. Integrate the totality of life: past, present and future. Have an over-riding purpose for your day.
What is that over-riding purpose?
You have to choose one. You have to choose it.
You can’t wake to each morning and expect to just live in the moment, can you?
With purpose greater than any moment you add an over-all structure to your day, you wake in the barracks of life. You are a part of a marching army, whether man or woman. You are marching forward with people of like purpose. You are creating a better life. You are handling victory and defeat alike. But you are moving. You are purposeful. You are awake to value.
You are not caught up in your little ego self, sitting too long in that little corner coffee shop. You take your coffee, or you even skip it. You don’t gaze at people going by. You don’t waste time on strangers. You seek your friends, your people of purpose like yourself, and you get on with it. You have a life to live, so don’t squander it. Your Commander is saying to you, Get on with the job, and get on with it now.
Greater Purpose, man, and woman.
Stretch, live, radiate greater love and value. Get out there and strive against all odds.
Do something with your life.
Do something important with your life!
You are always capable of more, not less.
Get out there and live!
Wake to a new day as if it is the greatest day of your life.
When you have purpose, life has purpose with you.
