- Strephon Says 20 The Tao of Now

Strephon’s privately published book is compared with Eckhart Tolle’s book, The Power of Now, which has sold millions of copies. The Tao Of Now emphasizes clear and present thinking in developing ones perspective on life.

Thinking can be beautiful. Thinking can be profound, pure, clever, essence, so well articulated as to astound. Yet we can remember that we are not these ideas. We do not possess them, and they need not possess us.
The best philosopher, the one you can be with, is the one who is not that identified with his own philosophy.

Thus when students have challenged me in the past as to my own contradictions between what I live and what I tDream Card 59each, I have had to say, Of course! I am the worst possible student of my own philosophy. Yet, why should that let you off the hook? Are you going to go with what I say, or with what I do? I advise you go with neither. What I present to you now, and always, is the clearest thinking about life and its issues I can muster, while at the same time claiming that we must always consider that life has no answers, that existence itself is meaningless, that God does not exist, because maybe not needed since we have existence itself.

I shudder a bit on this one. I do know existence, but to claim that I know God, a creator of this existence, is certainly going too far.
There are over 400 separate teachings and practices in The Tao Of Now which may soon be made available in its entirety, though no agent or big time publisher has yet picked it up.

Only here on these web pages can you come to a sort of feast for the imagination, the life, and the heart.
Let the mind rest, but do not deny it.
Do not live in definitions but in practice.
Let your life happen but process it through.
Don’t believe. Act. Reflect. Act.
Decide for yourself.
If you don’t, life decides for you.
Rather than strive to be in control of your life, strive for conscious awareness of the whole with its center being realized in the moment, each moment of your existence.
Give up, if you can, the focus on and creation of personality. This age in which we live is the age of the cult of personality.
Why do you need a personality anyway?
Don’t try to be yourself.
Don’t try to be anything, not even yourself.
Know yourself, need not be the dictum anymore. Socrates took poison. It is not yourself you need to know, as it is the need to know the nature of your existence, which is far more total and profound than just the narrow focus on self.
Yes, let your self be known. And go beyond self to being a part of the living moment of reality as it manifests, far more totally than you can or will do.
Not, I think therefore I am.
Not, know yourself.
Not, get out of mind.
Yes, exist.
Be existence itself.
Why not? Try it out.
Existence?
I exist therefore I am.
That is all we ever have.
Existence!
